We have just learned that the CABS Seminar for 2020 has been cancelled. We fully expect it will resume in 2021. Many thanks to everyone who has applied for the scholarship. Please continue to follow our Facebook Page for information about next year’s seminar. Thank you for your interest!
We have important news about the Antiquarian Book Seminar, and a new name!
This year, the Seminar is moving to the campus of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. This move is reflected in our new name: CABS Minnesota. We look forward to settling into our new home in the Midwest this summer and — in part to celebrate landing at St. Olaf — our keynote speaker will be St. Olaf alumnus and trustee Mark Dimunation of the Library of Congress. The Seminar dates are July 12 -17. The Seminar coincides with the Twin Cities Antiquarian Book Fair, taking place on the campus of the University of St. Thomas, in St. Paul, MN July 10 and 11. St. Paul is less than an hour’s drive from Northfield.
In memory of long-time member Florence Shay (1922-2012), the Midwest Chapter of the ABAA offers a $1,615 educational scholarship to attend CABS Minnesota 2020. The scholarship covers the total cost of tuition, room and board for one attendee at this year’s Seminar. This scholarship is offered to booksellers who are from the Midwest Chapter region, which includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Learn more about the Seminar.
